About Customs
Each country has different import restrictions, and it is the responsibility of the sender to research this before shipping a package. If you want to clarify whether your products are ok to send or not, you can either contact customs of the destination country or our customer support team who will be happy to assist you. Customs regulations cannot be avoided and all international couriers must comply. Customs work for the government of the country you are shipping to and has two main purposes:
- • To prevent any item classified as illegal or prohibited from entering the country.
- • Determine whether the goods imported into the country are subject to import taxes and duties and if so, decide what level of customs charges will apply.
Customs Clearance
International courier pickup will handle all of the customs requirements and help you to produce all the documents needed when shipping outside India. Customs will decide whether any duties or taxes should apply, and if so, the charges will need to be paid by the recipient.
Here's a quick shipping guide of what happens when you ship outside India.
- • As a part of our booking process, you will be asked to declare what you are shipping to and why?
- • When shipment reaches the destination country, the carrier will arrange customs clearance and customs will evaluate the declaration on the customs invoice to determine the import duties that need to be applied to the shipment. These charges will be billed to the recipient.
- • The recipient will be contacted and asked to pay the charges. A copy of your customs declaration will also be provided for their reference.
- • If you prefer to pay these charges by yourself, we can arrange it in advance. This is a popular option when sending gift items. However, there will be some additional charges for this facility and a minimum fee deposit is required.
- • Once all the charges have been paid, your package will clear customs for delivery.
Import Charges
Customs will determine the import charges that will be applied to your shipment based on the information provided in your customs documentation: the declared value, the reason for the export, and the description of the goods.
Often people declare a lower value on customs invoices to minimize customs duties. we will not recommend you to provide wrong shipment details as it may attract heavy penalties and further delay the delivery process.
Your shipment will not exit the customs until Customs officers are fully satisfied with the declaration that you have made is genuine. Declaring a lower value may also affect the value of your claim in the event of loss or damage in transit.
International courier pickup has no control over any of the charges levied on goods by customs, and once your package has arrived at the customs facilities at the destination country, the only way to receive the package is to pay the clearance charges.
Customs Paperwork
Customs declaration is required for commercial shipments whereas in the case of sending simple documents we need not go through the customs clearance process. You need to understand that all the information provided by you on the customs invoice is legally binding. Before sending a parcel we will prompt you for the following information:
- • A list of the items inside your parcel
- • The value of each item
- • The reason for export – For example, it could be a gift or a business sample.
International courier pickup will then create customs invoice and put shipping labels on your parcel.
